Senior Review Officer

About the role

The Senior Review Officer leads comprehensive systems and practice reviews following the death or serious injury of a child known to the department under the Child Protection Act 1999. This role supports continuous learning, service improvement, and accountability across the department.

Key responsibilities

• Produce well‑researched, high‑quality reviews that align with legislation, policy and the Strengthening Families, Protecting Children Framework.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of child protection policy, practice trends and review methodologies through training and research.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive curiosity, learning and system improvements.
• Critically analyse review data to identify improvement opportunities and advise the Systems and Practice Review Committee.
• Develop and disseminate findings via papers, reports, presentations and workshops at local and system levels.
• Participate in the evaluation, development and implementation of review policies, procedures and best‑practice methodologies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in child protection policy, systems reviews and legislative frameworks.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret complex information and generate actionable recommendations.
• Proven track record of producing high‑quality written reports and presentations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of government agencies, partners and internal teams.
