Senior Accountant

About the role

Greystar is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its APAC funds team in Sydney. The role supports both Build‑to‑Rent (BTR) and Purpose‑Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) assets across Japan and Australia, working at the fund level on financial reporting, investor communications and new asset acquisitions.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate financial statements prepared by external property managers for Japan BTR assets, ensuring AASB and IFRS compliance before consolidation.
• Support fund accounting and reporting for new Australian assets, including preparation of consolidated financials, workpapers and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review quarterly investor reports, partner capital statements and ad‑hoc investor reporting.
• Assist with set‑up of new assets and disposals, covering fund structures, bank accounts, governance and approval mandates.
• Monitor cash positions, loan covenants and debt compliance; produce lender reporting and compliance certificates.
• Manage capital calls and distributions, coordinating with fund administrators to ensure timely fund flows.
• Contribute to business planning, budgeting and variance analysis; oversee audit and tax compliance to meet investor and statutory deadlines.

Required profile

• Degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• CA/CPA qualification (essential).
• Solid experience in fund or real‑estate investment accounting.
• Ability to work across asset types, project stages and time zones in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Knowledge of AASB and IFRS accounting standards.
• Experience with financial statement consolidation and reporting.
• Understanding of cash management, loan covenants and debt compliance.
• Familiarity with capital call and distribution processes.
• Audit and tax compliance experience.
