Purchasing Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to drive procurement excellence at our Hobart site. You will source goods and services, manage supplier relationships, and continuously improve procurement processes to support smooth operations.

Key responsibilities

• Procure goods and services using appropriate systems and tools, including creation and management of purchase orders.
• Conduct quotes and tender processes (RFT/RFP/EOI), evaluate results and select suppliers to meet operational needs.
• Identify and implement process improvements such as automation, reduction of transactional volumes, and cataloguing repetitive purchases.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure cost, quality and delivery commitments.
• Manage compliance with procurement policies and drive e‑procurement initiatives.
• Use SAP or other ERP systems for purchasing activities and generate reports to identify trends, cost savings and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to address procurement challenges, support inventory management and resolve invoice or supply issues.

Required profile

• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably within resources, manufacturing or industrial sectors.
• Proficiency in SAP or other ERP systems combined with strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to engage effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
• Analytical mindset to identify improvement opportunities and implement cost‑effective solutions.
• Proactive approach to building supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement.
• Experience with SAP Ariba vendor module and basic contract administration is beneficial.
