Manager, Environment and Planning

About the role

Aurecon’s Western Australian Environment and Planning team is seeking a Manager to lead environmental approvals and planning activities for a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and development projects across WA and Australia.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare referral and approval documents using Commonwealth and Western Australian environmental legislation.
• Contribute to fee proposals and tender submissions, assess technical documentation, and lead multi‑disciplinary project teams.
• Manage sub‑consultants and ensure timely delivery of projects.
• Maintain and develop client relationships, identifying business development opportunities.
• Provide senior oversight and direction to the Environmental Approvals team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or a related field.
• Proven experience coordinating permits and approvals under the EPBC Act, WA Environmental Protection Act and WA Mining Act.
• Extensive consulting and project‑management background.
• Demonstrated ability to liaise with internal teams, external stakeholders and government officials.
• Experience leading fee proposals, tender submissions and managing sub‑consultants.
• Strong team‑leadership and development capabilities.
• Knowledge of resources, energy projects and industrial activities is advantageous.

Required skills

• Expertise in Commonwealth and WA environmental approvals legislation (EPBC Act, Environmental Protection Act WA, Mining Act WA).
• Permit acquisition and environmental assessment processes.
• Project management of multi‑disciplinary teams.
