Maintenance Engineer – Asset Reliability & Workshop Lead

About the role
EnerMech is looking for a hands‑on Maintenance Engineer to join its Henderson workshop team. You will drive asset reliability, improve equipment performance and support maintenance effectiveness across operations, ensuring maximum uptime and lifecycle performance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and recurring reliability issues.
- Analyse equipment performance, utilisation and downtime trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Support the development of preventive and predictive maintenance plans and manage scheduling/backlog.
- Coordinate with vendors for engineering support, spare‑parts solutions and technical expertise.
- Verify equipment readiness before mobilisation, ensuring certifications, inspections and documentation are complete.
- Monitor transport schedules, load‑outs and inventory of materials/consumables.
- Maintain accurate asset registers and tracking systems (available, under repair, BER, deployed).
- Coordinate routine and ad‑hoc facility maintenance, utilities, security, waste management and service providers.
- Implement and sustain 5S and other workplace‑organisation initiatives.
- Support HSE initiatives, emergency procedures and facility compliance activities.
Required profile
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade background with engineering experience.
- Proven experience in maintenance engineering, reliability improvement or workshop operations, preferably in heavy industry or oil & gas.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience with maintenance planning, asset registers and inventory/spares management.
- Ability to coordinate vendors, contractors and facility service providers.
- Sound understanding of HSE legislative requirements and workplace safety systems.
- Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Comfortable working in a hands‑on workshop environment.
