About the role

The School of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Queensland is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Mathematics or Statistics. This full‑time, permanent position combines high‑quality teaching with an independent research programme, supporting both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate and deliver engaging undergraduate and postgraduate courses in mathematics or statistics.
• Contribute to curriculum design and assessment, ensuring alignment with university standards.
• Establish and sustain an independent or collaborative research programme with national and international impact.
• Publish research outputs, secure competitive funding and promote research translation.
• Supervise Honours and Higher Degree by Research students and mentor early‑career researchers.
• Participate in school, faculty and university service, fostering industry and community partnerships.

Required profile

• Academic appointment at Level B (Lecturer) or Level C (Senior Lecturer) within the Australian university framework.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to curriculum innovation.
• Strong record of research achievement or clear potential for building a high‑impact research portfolio.
• Experience supervising research students and contributing to a collaborative academic environment.
