Intern Architect – Strategic Infrastructure Projects

About the role

Join the Strategic Infrastructure and Development Division as an Intern Architect, supporting the design and delivery of healthcare and strategic infrastructure projects across Nova Scotia. You will work closely with senior architects, project managers, and clients to gain hands‑on experience in all phases of the architectural process.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in programming, planning and pre‑design activities for Build Nova Scotia projects.
• Review design and consultant‑prepared documentation for compliance with codes and standards.
• Support the preparation of project deliverables and procurement documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project budgets, schedules and quality targets are met.
• Maintain awareness of construction progress and quality during the build phase.

Required profile

• University degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Current intern architect status (IAP program) in good standing with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects or working toward licensure in Canada.
• Strong planning, technical and design abilities, especially for institutional buildings.
• Understanding of building codes, design standards, project budgeting and financial planning.
