Senior Electrical Engineer – Building Services & LV (Rail)

About the role

SMEC, part of the Surbana Jurong group, is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with strong building services and low‑voltage expertise to lead design and delivery of major rail projects in North Sydney. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to create safe, reliable, and future‑ready infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver building services and low‑voltage electrical systems for rail and metro projects.
• Produce detailed drawings, reports, specifications, and tender packages.
• Conduct feasibility studies, load calculations, and site inspections.
• Review designs to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Support tender submissions and prepare technical documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure on‑time, coordinated delivery.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years’ experience in electrical design, specifically building services and low‑voltage projects.
• Background in a design consultancy environment.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing project delivery and budgets.
• CPEng (or working towards chartership) preferred.
• Experience with a TAO‑authorised consultancy and multidisciplinary coordination.
