Senior Project Manager – Capital Projects (Hybrid, Melbourne)

About the role

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Project Manager to lead complex capital projects within live operational environments. You will join a respected project delivery team that manages significant infrastructure and capital works across defence, commercial, education and retail sectors in a Public Private Partnership (PPP) setting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of complex capital works from planning through to completion, ensuring programme, budget and quality targets are met.
• Lead design development, procurement and construction delivery across multiple concurrent projects.
• Oversee consultant and contractor performance to achieve project outcomes.
• Prepare and administer project documentation, including scopes, tenders, contracts and technical records.
• Engage with a broad stakeholder group—including operators, consultants, contractors and government representatives—while navigating live operational environments.
• Provide high‑quality reporting to senior leadership, governance groups and steering committees.
• Identify risks early and implement proactive mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Qualification in engineering, construction, project management or a related discipline.
• 6+ years of end‑to‑end project delivery experience in construction, infrastructure or capital works.
• Exposure to client‑side, consultancy and/or contractor environments.
• Familiarity with PPP structures and governance processes (e.g., PCG, PWG, Board reporting).
• Strong stakeholder‑management capability across senior and operational audiences.
• Commercial judgement, planning discipline and robust reporting ability.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
