Head of Clinical Years – Associate/Professor (Part‑time)

About the role

The University of Notre Dame Australia seeks a senior academic leader to head the Clinical Years of its Doctor of Medicine program on the Sydney campus. This part‑time (0.6 FTE) position provides strategic and operational oversight of Year 3 and 4 clinical education, ensuring high‑quality delivery across affiliated Clinical Schools.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate consistent delivery of the Year 3 and 4 curriculum in partnership with Heads of Clinical Schools.
• Lead evaluation and continuous improvement of the clinical curriculum.
• Manage day‑to‑day operations of Clinical Schools, including staff matters, adjunct appointments, contracts, budgets, and stakeholder liaison.
• Oversee student allocation to Clinical Schools and elective placements.
• Ensure compliance with quality processes and liaise with health departments, government bodies, and private partners.
• Provide pastoral care, monitor academic progress, and facilitate student access to university services.
• Chair the Heads of Clinical School Committee and other relevant working groups.
• Promote external engagement with the broader medical community.

Required profile

• Medical qualification registrable with AHPRA.
• PhD or Fellowship of a relevant professional body, plus a Masters‑level qualification.
• Minimum five years of higher‑education teaching experience.
• Demonstrated leadership in medical education and clinical practice.
• Experience negotiating with health services and managing complex stakeholder relationships.
