Grounds Person – Retirement Living Estate

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Grounds Person to maintain the landscaped gardens, reticulation systems and common areas at RAAFA’s Cambrai Village retirement living estate in Merriwa, WA. The role involves daily interaction with residents while ensuring the grounds meet the high standards of care and service expected by the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain gardens, lawns, pathways and common areas across the estate.
• Inspect, repair and service reticulation systems, including bore pumps, valves, sprinklers, switches and control panels.
• Carry out landscape and grounds renovation projects as required.
• Operate a range of equipment such as Kubota tractors, whipper snippers, blowers/vacs, chainsaws, hedge trimmers and sprayers.
• Apply herbicides, pesticides and fungicides safely, using appropriate PPE and following manufacturer instructions.

Required profile

• Previous experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping, preferably in a residential or aged‑care setting.
• Ability to work independently and interact positively with residents and staff.
• Commitment to safety procedures and environmental best practices.

Required skills

• Reticulation system maintenance (bore pumps, valves, sprinklers, switches, panels).
• Operation of Kubota tractor and other landscaping machinery.
• Use of whipper snipper, blower/vac, chainsaw, hedge trimmer and sprayer.
• Safe application of herbicides, pesticides and fungicides with PPE.
