About the role
The Deputy Director-General, Corporate Services and Infrastructure will lead a broad portfolio of corporate services and a statewide infrastructure agenda for the Department of Trade, Employment and Training. This senior executive role shapes systems, services and capabilities that enable organisational performance across Queensland, influencing how the department operates in a dynamic public sector environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide high‑level and specialist advice to the Minister, Director‑General, Deputy Directors‑General and other senior executives on key issues impacting government and departmental priorities.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to enhance service delivery outcomes and ensure the workforce is equipped for current and future needs.
- Lead strategic direction and leadership to enable a capable workforce to deliver outcomes efficiently and within budget.
- Oversee decision‑making around resourcing, ICT services, risk management and investment.
- Lead and inspire a corporate team of approximately 80 FTE to deliver infrastructure projects and customer‑focused corporate services.
- Ensure cost‑effective corporate services aligned with departmental and government priorities while maintaining flexibility for future needs.
- Foster collaborative partnerships with senior leaders, local, state and federal agencies, central government agencies and external service providers.
- Represent Ministers and Directors‑General in complex negotiations and consultations across various forums and committees.
Required profile
- Trusted and highly capable executive leader with experience in public sector corporate services.
- Proven track record of leading large‑scale capital works and enterprise‑wide capability transformation.
- Ability to influence strategic direction of a complex department and manage significant infrastructure investments.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills with senior government officials and external partners.
- Demonstrated capacity to lead a diverse team and deliver outcomes within budget and timelines.
