About the role
We are looking for an experienced Blast Operator to join our Blast Crew at Fortescue’s Eliwana mine. The role operates on an 8‑day on / 6‑day off FIFO roster and is responsible for safe, efficient drill‑and‑blast activities that deliver quality blasted stock for mining or processing.
Key responsibilities
- Demonstrate behaviour aligned with FMG values and Zero Harm principles.
- Meet daily operational targets and follow directions from the Drill & Blast Supervisory Team.
- Operate drilling and blasting machinery safely and efficiently.
- Maintain all associated equipment in a safe condition.
- Ensure drill‑and‑blast patterns meet high‑standard specifications.
- Apply techniques and procedures that improve performance and cost efficiency.
Required profile
- WA Class C Driver’s Licence (manual).
- Current WA Shotfirer’s Licence (highly regarded).
- Dangerous goods security clearance.
- Experience operating mobile equipment in the mining industry (desirable).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Mine Safety & Inspection and OHS Act/Regulations.
- Basic computer skills and effective time management.
Required skills
- Shotfiring (WA Shotfirer’s Licence).
- Mobile equipment operation.
- Basic computer proficiency.
