Youth Worker - Residential Care

About the role

Red Centre Support Services is seeking Youth Workers to support children and young people living in residential care in Mount Isa, Queensland. The role provides a safe, stable and supportive home environment for young people who have experienced life challenges. It is a permanent position open to Mount Isa locals and to people ready to relocate, with possible short-term transitional accommodation on a case-by-case basis.

Key responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships through consistent, respectful care.
• Support daily routines, personal development and independent living skills.
• Help with meals, household tasks, appointments and transport.
• Encourage participation in education, recreation and community activities.
• Support emotional regulation and respond appropriately to challenging behaviour.
• Follow individual support plans and maintain professional boundaries.
• Complete accurate records, shift notes and incident reports.
• Work with colleagues and management to provide consistent care.

Required profile

• A relevant qualification meeting Queensland residential care requirements, or enrolment in a recognised qualification.
• Experience in youth work, residential care, community services, education or a related field.
• Willingness to work a rotating roster including weekends, public holidays and sleepovers.
• Current driver's licence and the right to work in Australia.
• Appointment is subject to a Blue Card, Child Safety and Personal History Screening (LCS2), reference checks and mandatory training; existing clearances should be stated in the application.
