Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator

About the role

SCT Logistics, Australia's largest privately owned rail and freight logistics company, is seeking a hands-on Workplace Health & Safety Coordinator for its NSW Sugar Operations across the Northern Rivers region (Broadwater, Harwood and Condong). This is an on-site role reporting to the NSW Sugar Contract Manager, focused on promoting a proactive safety culture, improving risk management and ensuring compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Promote a positive, proactive safety culture and provide visible safety leadership with employees, contractors and supervisors
• Support leaders in meeting their WHS obligations and encourage workforce participation in safety initiatives, consultations and hazard reporting
• Support safety training, toolbox talks and awareness campaigns, and help with incident, near-miss and hazard reporting and investigations
• Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments and control measures, and help develop and review Safe Work Procedures, Safe Operating Procedures and Job Safety Analyses
• Take part in internal, external or customer audits such as ISO 45001, NHVAS and HACCP
• Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice and SCT policies

Required profile

• Ability to travel between three sites in the Northern Rivers region
• Ability to work with managers, supervisors and employees, and to influence positive outcomes
• Professional, positive approach, strong verbal and written skills and attention to detail
• Flexibility with working hours and patterns
• Desirable: tertiary qualification in WHS or a related field, previous WHS experience, understanding of heavy vehicle regulations and the chain of responsibility, ICAM qualification, advanced MS Office skills
