Workforce Engagement Officer

About the role

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is recruiting a Workforce Engagement Officer for Western Plains Correctional Centre, a modern maximum-security prison focused on rehabilitation. The role supports staff and managers at the centre, works mainly on site and may involve nights, weekends or public holidays. It is an ongoing, full-time position at VPS 3 grade, earning $81,496-$98,955 per year plus super.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update plans that create positive staff experiences
• Build strong working relationships and help staff share ideas and feedback
• Give clear advice on human resources policies and refer complex questions to the right people
• Use staff feedback and data to prepare reports and guide improvements
• Work with managers to identify staffing needs and support a respectful, inclusive workplace

Required profile

• No mandatory qualification; a qualification in human resource management would help
• Experience in human resources or helping staff feel heard and supported at work
• Experience providing business support in government or a large private organisation

Required skills

• Skills in Microsoft Windows and Office to complete tasks and present information clearly
• Flexibility, sound judgement and people skills to solve problems, handle difficult conversations and support colleagues from diverse backgrounds
