Workforce Design & Optimisation Manager

About the role

Kmart is looking for a Workforce Design and Optimisation Manager to join its Customer & Team Member Experience team and help shape the future of workforce planning across Kmart's store network. Reporting to the Head of Workforce Planning, the role designs and optimises workforce models, labour standards and operating frameworks so stores can deliver great customer and team experiences. It works closely with Store Operations, Demand Planning and Workforce Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, optimisation and continuous improvement of workforce models, labour standards and operating frameworks across the store network.
• Develop and maintain labour standards, productivity assumptions and workforce structures.
• Partner with Demand Planning teams to turn demand forecasts into workforce design solutions.
• Deliver optimisation initiatives that improve productivity, labour efficiency and cost outcomes.
• Run scenario modelling and workforce planning analysis to support strategic decisions.
• Work with Store Operations and other stakeholders to make frameworks practical and scalable.
• Embed workforce design principles into workforce management systems and scheduling tools.
• Lead, coach and develop a small team.

Required profile

• Experience in workforce planning, workforce design, operational excellence or productivity improvement in a large, complex retail environment.
• Demonstrated experience designing labour models, workforce frameworks, labour standards or operating models.
• Experience delivering productivity, efficiency or cost improvement initiatives with measurable results.
• Ability to partner with operational and cross-functional stakeholders and influence decision-making.
• Leadership experience and a passion for developing teams.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to turn data and insights into practical solutions.
• Commercial acumen on the link between workforce planning, productivity and operational performance.
• Experience using UKG Pro Workforce Management.
