Wildlife Specialist – Part Time

About the role

Join Paradise Country in Oxenford, Gold Coast as a part‑time Wildlife Specialist. You will care for a range of native and exotic animals, support guest interactions, and deliver educational experiences that inspire conservation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform animal husbandry and exhibit maintenance to ensure optimal health and presentation standards.
• Handle wildlife for guest interactives and ensure safe, engaging experiences.
• Facilitate education talks, school programs and interactive tours.
• Maintain hygiene in diet preparation, presentation and storage.
• Rotate and audit animal stock, and manage equipment checks and maintenance.
• Be punctual for all animal presentations, tours and guest programs.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Wildlife and Exhibited Animal Care (essential).
• Blue Card may be required as part of background checks.
• Animal handling experience (desired).
• Understanding of positive‑reinforcement training.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with guest‑service experience.
• Background in teaching/education roles within zoos is an advantage.
• Public speaking experience.
• Knowledge of current wildlife and environmental conservation challenges.
• Manual driver’s licence (advantage).
