Well Test DAQ Engineer (FIFO)

About the role

SGS Australia is looking for an experienced Well Test DAQ Engineer to join its team in a FIFO role on an even-time roster. This is a hands-on technical position supporting data acquisition (DAQ) systems and well-testing operations, with a focus on accurate data capture, equipment performance and safe delivery in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the rig-up, rig-down and preparation of well test packages alongside field crews.
• Support general well testing activities and help operational personnel to maximise crew efficiency.
• Set up, operate and maintain DAQ systems used in well testing.
• Once the well test package is operational, take primary responsibility for monitoring and recording well data accurately.
• Monitor, capture, validate and manage operational data throughout well testing.
• Troubleshoot DAQ hardware, software and associated instrumentation to minimise disruptions.
• Prepare, review and submit accurate end-of-well data reports to clients within required timeframes.
• Maintain DAQ equipment in line with operational and maintenance requirements.
• Work with well test supervisors and field crews to meet client expectations, follow safety procedures and support a strong health, safety and environmental culture.

Required profile

• Technically capable and safety-focused professional comfortable in remote field environments.
• Previous well testing experience highly desirable.
• Experience operating, maintaining and troubleshooting DAQ systems in the oil and gas industry.
• Practical understanding of well test equipment, rig-up and rig-down procedures and field operations.
• Experience preparing and submitting well test data reports to clients.
• Willingness to carry out hands-on field duties beyond primary DAQ tasks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary field crew.
