Vocational Support Officer – Rehabilitation, Training & Recreation

About the role

The Department of Justice is seeking dedicated Vocational Support Officers to deliver rehabilitation, training and recreation programmes within Casuarina and Hakea prison complexes. You will work directly with inmates, providing on‑the‑job instruction, accredited training and supervision to support their reintegration and personal development.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver vocational and life‑skills curricula tailored to the prison environment.
• Facilitate recreation activities, sport, and aquatics programmes to promote physical wellbeing.
• Assess participant progress, provide feedback and maintain accurate training records.
• Collaborate with prison staff to ensure compliance with the Prisons Act 1981 and related regulations.
• Maintain a safe, supportive and structured learning environment.

Required profile

• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Relevant qualification (Certificate II/III in Sport & Recreation, Certificate III in Aquatics, or Certificate IV in Training & Assessment).
• Ability to obtain a national criminal history check and departmental integrity assessment.
• Current Australian C‑class driver’s licence.
