Visiting Medical Officer, Cardiology

About the role

St Vincent's Hospital Sydney is recruiting a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) in Cardiology. This is a quinquennium appointment with zero hours per week, paid according to the award under the NSW (Non-Declared) Affiliated Health Organisation's VMO agreement. The role provides clinical services to patients under direct care, outpatients and patients referred for consultation in general cardiology.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical services to patients under direct care, outpatients and referred patients in general cardiology
• Provide cardiac electrophysiological services to patients
• Take part in teaching and research duties
• Promote good patient care and the reputation of the department and hospital
• Participate in the out-of-hours on-call roster

Required profile

• Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP)
• Doctor of Philosophy
• Completed electrophysiology fellowship, certification and higher learning
• Current immunity status complying with the NSW Health occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy

Required skills

• Knowledge and expertise in all aspects of cardiac electrophysiology and pacing
• Clinical service planning and management, with a focus on high-quality, cost-effective care and teaching of staff
• Contribution to the development and dissemination of new knowledge in an academic teaching hospital setting
