Veterinary Nurse Team Lead - Small Animal Hospital

About the role

A full-time continuing position leading the Emergency Care Centre (ECC) nursing team at Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital, part of the College of Science. The hospital provides general practice, specialist and 24-hour emergency services and supports the clinical education of veterinary and veterinary technology students. The role reports to the Hospital Manager and sits within the Roseworthy Veterinary Hospital team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a dedicated veterinary nursing team in a modern, accredited teaching hospital.
• Coordinate daily workloads and patient admissions and discharges.
• Work with veterinary clinicians and client services staff to deliver patient care.
• Mentor team members, identify professional development opportunities and support the clinical education and mentorship of future veterinary professionals.
• Stay actively involved in clinical procedures, surgery, diagnostics and patient monitoring.
• Contribute to high clinical standards, improve processes and ensure the hospital runs safely and efficiently.
• Provide guidance, direction, coaching and professional development support to build a skilled, collaborative team.

Required profile

• Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology, with 5 years' experience.
• Experience leading and supporting a team in a veterinary or clinical environment.
• Proven ability to support procedures, examinations and surgeries and to maintain high standards of veterinary nursing practice.
• Ability to build effective working relationships, communicate professionally and manage time and organisation.

Required skills

• Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and relevant clinical databases.
• Written and oral communication skills.

What we offer

• Salary range of $84,498 to $93,955 per year (HEO 5) plus 17% superannuation.
• Shift loading applies; some participation in the ECC nursing roster is required.
