Vehicle Mechanic – Defence (Amberley, QLD)

About the role

Ventia is seeking a skilled Vehicle Mechanic to join its Defence Maintenance Contract team at Amberley, Queensland. You will keep a wide range of heavy military vehicles – from 4WDs and trucks to tracked armoured carriers and tanks – operational and road‑worthy.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, technical inspections and vehicle classifications.
• Diagnose, repair or replace worn or faulty components, including engines, transmissions and differentials.
• Re‑assemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts to manufacturer standards.
• Carry out minor body and trim repairs.
• Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, ignition and electronic fuel injection.
• Inspect vehicles and issue road‑worthiness certificates.

Required profile

• Certificate III in Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience inspecting, repairing and maintaining light, medium and heavy vehicles.
• Current Australian State or Territory Class C driver’s licence.
• Australian citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance.
