Underground Mining Maintenance Electrician

About the role

PYBAR, a Thiess company providing underground hard rock mining services, is looking for an experienced electrician to support its workshop in Orange, NSW. You will work autonomously and as part of a team, expanding your knowledge of underground electrical maintenance. The position is full-time, on a Monday to Friday roster of minimum 10-hour shifts, with some site travel as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults on mobile and fixed plant equipment
• Inspect, test and repair electrical systems to ensure reliability and compliance
• Carry out preventative maintenance to minimise downtime
• Maintain service records, maintenance reports and inspection documentation
• Complete equipment rebuilds, repairs and upgrades
• Work with operations and maintenance teams to meet production targets

Required profile

• Trade certificate in Electrical or similar
• At least two years' experience as an underground or mine site electrician
• Familiarity with 1000V mining equipment such as drill rigs, pumps, fans and starters
• Ability to travel to site and hold a current Australian manual driver's licence
• Willingness to obtain a current National Police Clearance

• Estimating time and materials for jobs
• Ordering parts and materials
• Knowledge of AS5368 and NSW mining electrical regulations
• Experience using a CMMS
