Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering Lead

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to provide strategic and technical direction for major transport planning and traffic engineering projects across Queensland. The role will guide initiatives from concept and business case through to delivery, strengthen key client relationships, and expand Aurecon’s transport capability.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, development and delivery of large‑scale transport infrastructure projects.
• Define the strategic direction and standards for the transport planning and traffic engineering discipline.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, grow the project pipeline and enhance market presence.
• Mentor and develop a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of excellence.
• Drive innovation through sustainable and technology‑enabled solutions.
• Contribute to bids, secure new work and expand existing client engagements.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in transport planning and traffic engineering.
• Proven leadership and team development capability within a multi‑disciplinary environment.
• Deep understanding of multi‑modal transport (roads, public transport, active transport); experience with Queensland’s Department of Transport and Main Roads is highly regarded.
• Track record of delivering complex projects and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Experience in winning work, developing bids and growing client portfolios.
• Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or a related field.
