Transport Engineer / Transport Planner – Melbourne

About the role

Aurecon is seeking a Transport Engineer / Transport Planner to join its Melbourne Integrated Transport & Mobility team. You will contribute to city‑shaping projects across transport infrastructure, energy and urban development, delivering practical solutions that improve how people move and experience places.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare traffic engineering and transport planning reports, impact assessments and technical notes.
• Conduct intersection analysis, traffic modelling and network assessments.
• Support the development of transport strategies for urban and infrastructure projects.
• Provide transport insights during concept and detailed design phases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, planning and urban design.
• Engage with clients, stakeholders and approval authorities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation in transport solutions.

Required profile

• 3–5 years of experience in traffic engineering and/or transport planning.
• Relevant degree in engineering, planning or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with traffic modelling tools such as SIDRA.
• Exposure to VISSIM, AIMSUN or similar tools (beneficial but not essential).
