Transport & Outings Volunteer – Neringah Hospital (Weekdays)

About the role

HammondCare is looking for a Transport & Outings Volunteer to support palliative care patients at Neringah Hospital. Patients who cannot drive themselves greatly value the chance to get out of the house, enjoy meaningful activities and spend time with a friendly companion. The volunteer provides transport and companionship to appointments and outings within the local community, such as visits to a café, a walk by the beach, trips to the shops or an art gallery.

Key responsibilities

• Drive patients to medical appointments and community outings
• Provide companionship and a friendly presence during outings
• Support patients to stay connected with their community
• Communicate any changes or concerns to the Volunteer Coordinator

Required profile

• Aged 18+
• Warm, friendly and reliable, enjoys conversation and building meaningful connections
• Comfortable supporting people living with a serious illness
• Available ideally 1-2 hours per fortnight on weekday daytime hours between 9am and 4pm
• Willingness to meet health screening and immunisation requirements

Required skills

• Current C class driver's licence and safe driving record
• Access to a registered and insured vehicle
• Comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
• National Police Check (arranged and paid for by HammondCare)
• Effective communication with staff and volunteers
