Transport Operations Lead

About the role

This is a hands‑on, ownership role leading vehicle movement across all six Australian states. You will manage the entire transport lifecycle from booking to delivery, acting as the sole point of contact for carriers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Run daily dispatch for NSW, VIC, QLD, SA, WA and TAS, including ferry logistics and quarantine considerations.
• Build and manage a panel of transport carriers, balancing price, capacity, lane and reliability.
• Negotiate rates, fuel levies, surcharges and volume commitments; hold carriers to delivery windows and condition standards.
• Coordinate single‑vehicle and multi‑carrier dispatch, tow‑truck dispatch, auction house pickups and end‑of‑lease handovers.
• Resolve exceptions such as transit damage, delays, missed pickups and paperwork issues, including cost recovery.
• Maintain a clean digital operating system as the single source of truth.
• Report on cost per vehicle, cost per kilometre, on‑time delivery and carrier performance.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience dispatching vehicle transport in Australia at meaningful volume.
• Existing, current network of Australian carrier relationships.
• Proven ability to manage high volumes of live jobs and exceptions in parallel.
• Confidence negotiating rates and holding suppliers accountable.
• Clear, calm communication on phone and in writing.
