Transport Officer - Deceased Persons

About the role
St John Ambulance Victoria is seeking dedicated Transport Officers to provide respectful transport services for deceased persons in partnership with the Coroners Court of Victoria. The role supports collections from places of death across the Melbourne metropolitan area and repatriation to regional locations.
Key responsibilities
- Collect and transport deceased persons from the place of death, either with a crew member or independently for repatriations.
- Operate on a rotating roster of 8‑10 hour shifts, responding to both emergency collections and planned repatriations.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism when interacting with families and other stakeholders.
- Adhere to occupational health and safety (OHS) and manual handling procedures at all times.
Required profile
- High level of resilience and ability to manage complex, sensitive situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non‑verbal.
- Demonstrated experience working with deceased persons and related stakeholders is highly regarded.
- Full driver’s licence with a safe driving record.
Required skills
- OHS and manual handling knowledge.
