Transport Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Transport Manager to coordinate the movement of domestic freight between our national, regional and temperature‑controlled distribution centres and our store network, as well as from suppliers to our DCs. You will oversee transport providers, ensure safety and compliance, and look for opportunities to improve service and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Drive safe practices with carriers and ensure compliance with NHVR and Chain of Responsibility legislation.
• Manage day‑to‑day freight movements from distribution centres to stores.
• Collaborate with DCs and transport providers to maintain smooth stock flow.
• Develop and maintain relationships with transport partners and internal stakeholders.
• Monitor and review freight provider KPIs, analysing on‑time delivery, rates and damage.
• Identify and implement technology or process improvements.
• Project, report and manage domestic logistics expenses and track realised savings.
• Analyse delivery frequency to recommend service and cost improvements without affecting shelf availability.

Required profile

• Proactive and adaptable in a fast‑growing retail environment.
• Sound understanding of supply‑chain and logistics functions.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar transport role within retail.
• Knowledge of NHVR and Chain of Responsibility legislation.
• Clear, concise communication and strong stakeholder‑management mindset.
• Analytical, problem‑solving orientation with the ability to influence outcomes.
• Energetic, driven and passionate attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
