Trades Supervisor (Tiling)

About the role

An experienced Trades Supervisor (Tiling) is sought for the Ceiling Solutions team in Perth, Western Australia, reporting directly to the General Manager. You will supervise, mentor and develop tradespeople across residential construction projects, ensuring high standards of workmanship, safety and productivity. The role involves hands-on technical guidance and on-the-job training, including for tradespeople recruited from overseas.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor and train wall and floor tiling tradespeople on residential sites
• Train in surface preparation, waterproofing, tile installation, cutting, grouting, sealing and finishing
• Check workmanship against Australian Standards, manufacturer specifications and ABN Group quality requirements
• Coach and give constructive feedback to tradespeople
• Oversee daily site activity so work is safe, efficient and within timeframes and budgets
• Inspect quality, complete compliance documentation and keep training and progress records
• Promote workplace health and safety, including site inspections, toolbox meetings and safe work practices
• Work with construction supervisors, coordinators and management on scheduling, materials and project delivery
• Identify ways to improve productivity, quality and technical capability

Required profile

• Extensive hands-on experience in wall and floor tiling
• Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring or giving technical guidance to tradespeople
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and technical specifications
• Strong organisational skills and excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Proactive, approachable leadership style with a commitment to health and safety and quality workmanship

Required skills

• Understanding of tiling installation methods, materials, waterproofing requirements and Australian Standards
• Current White Card
