Trades Assistant - Aerospace and Defence Manufacturing

About the role

Marand, an Australian engineering and manufacturing company supplying complex equipment, tooling and bespoke products to clients such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, BAE Systems, BHP and Rio Tinto, is hiring a Trades Assistant in Geelong. You will join a high-performing team supporting the production of aerospace, defence and industrial products, working alongside skilled machinists and welders on material preparation, machine support, component handling and general production.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with material and component preparation
• Support machining and fabrication activities
• Deburr, clean and handle components
• Conduct basic quality checks and inspections
• Pack, label and move finished products
• Perform basic welding tasks
• Operate cranes and forklifts safely
• Report quality issues and non-conformances
• Assist with production documentation and general workshop activities

Required profile

• Experience in a manufacturing, production or workshop environment
• Strong focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement
• Sound mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Reliable work ethic, team-oriented and able to follow procedures accurately
• Experience using hand tools and measuring equipment
• Current Forklift Licence (HRWL); overhead crane experience highly regarded; dogging and rigging licences viewed favourably
• Flexibility to support changing production demands
• Australian citizenship and ITAR/EAR compliance may be required; a police check, defence security clearance and random drug and alcohol screening may also be required
