Theatre Support Officer

About the role

The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane is recruiting a Theatre Support Officer for its Operating Theatre, working within the Patient Support Services team. The role supports the safe and efficient operation of the theatre by assisting clinical staff with patient transportation, handling and positioning, theatre preparation and cleaning, and by helping maintain a safe, clean and efficient environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist healthcare professionals with patient transportation, manual handling and positioning in the operating theatre while maintaining patient dignity and safety
• Prepare operating theatres for a range of procedures, including setting up theatre tables and equipment
• Clean operating theatres and associated areas routinely and periodically in line with infection control standards
• Collect and deliver blood products, pathology specimens and other clinical items, and support theatre staff during emergencies
• Maintain equipment and manage waste and linen disposal
• Contribute to staff training, service improvement initiatives and day-to-day theatre operations
