Telecommunications Designer - Power Projects

About the role

Downer is seeking a Telecommunications Designer to join its Power Projects Team in Adelaide, working across Power Utility Projects. Working closely with engineers, the role delivers telecommunications designs, coordinates design activities and deadlines, supports team deliverables and provides on-site commissioning expertise as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years' project delivery experience in the Power Utility Industry, with demonstrated Telco design experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or a relevant discipline, is advantageous.
• Experience preparing and delivering Telco Design Work packs for construction teams.
• Sound knowledge of telecommunications engineering principles and Telco network topologies.
• Good understanding of fibre optic infrastructure networks and FO system design requirements.
• Sound knowledge of relevant technical and industry standards, compliance and safety requirements.
• Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams, clients, stakeholders and external parties.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD packages, including MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Strong experience with Aviat and Ceragon microwave radio (MWR) systems, Palo Alto firewalls, and Nokia IP/MPLS and WDM systems.
• Knowledge of 48VDC power supply system load calculations and design is advantageous.
• Experience in power utilities or similar operational technology environments is advantageous.
