Technical Project Manager (Laravel, WordPress & Custom Development)
AMPLIFYD PTY LTD · Adelaide
Job description
About the role
A hands-on Technical Project Manager is sought to lead a mix of Laravel applications, WordPress sites and custom-built web solutions on the LAMP stack, from discovery to deployment. The role covers a portfolio of projects across three streams: Laravel builds, WordPress sites and bespoke custom development. It is a technical role involving architecture review, estimate checks and code work when deadlines are tight.
Key responsibilities
- Lead Laravel, WordPress and custom web projects end to end: discovery, requirements, sprint planning, delivery, UAT, deployment and post-launch support
- Advise each client on the right approach: WordPress, Laravel or a fully custom build
- Turn business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria and technical specs
- Work with developers on architecture, database design, API design and third-party integrations
- Oversee WordPress builds, custom themes and plugins, WooCommerce, site migrations and maintenance
- Review estimates, manage technical scope and keep code quality, testing, performance and security standards high
- Oversee workflows, code reviews, CI/CD pipelines and releases across dev, staging and production
- Code when needed: bug fixes, features, prototyping and unblocking the team in Laravel, WordPress and PHP
- Coordinate LAMP hosting and infrastructure: Linux servers, Apache/Nginx, MySQL tuning, cPanel/Forge, AWS or similar, DNS, SSL and backups
- Manage client expectations, change requests, budgets and status reporting
- Introduce AI tools into the delivery process where they save time or improve quality
Required profile
- No formal project management certification required; practical, hands-on delivery is valued
- Extensive experience in web and software project management across Laravel, WordPress and custom PHP projects, ideally 50+ projects delivered
- Proven delivery for local and international clients, from small sites to enterprise platforms
- Experience leading teams of developers, designers, business consultants and QA, including offshore or distributed teams
- Degree in Computer Science, IT or a related field
- Confident everyday user of AI assistants and aware of AI coding tools, able to write clear prompts and verify AI output
- Role is fully onsite in Adelaide; applicants must be able to work from the Adelaide office
Required skills
- Laravel: MVC, Eloquent ORM, migrations, queues, REST APIs, authentication
- WordPress: custom themes and plugins, ACF, Gutenberg, WooCommerce, multisite, security hardening and performance
- Bespoke PHP builds, including legacy PHP and integration-heavy systems
- LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, PHP 8+), HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Git, Nginx and web security basics
- Nice to have: travel technology experience, cloud ERP implementations, AI API integrations, other CMS/e-commerce platforms, Laravel ecosystem tools (Forge, Vapor, Nova, Horizon) and web app security risk assessments
What we offer
- Diverse client projects across multiple industries
- Collaborative team environment in Adelaide's growing tech scene
- Professional development for AI/tech training and certifications
- Exposure to AI technologies and real-world applications
