Technical Officer - Livestock Research

About the role

JBS Pork Australia (formerly Rivalea), Australia's leading integrated agri-food company, is recruiting a Technical Officer for its Farming Team at the Huntly site. This full-time position collects research data on nutrition, behaviour, welfare, health, reproduction, genetics and meat quality.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and conduct livestock research
• Undertake daily animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, live weight assessment and monitoring of animal health and welfare
• Ensure compliance with research protocol guidelines, animal welfare and ethics, and WHS
• Capture research data accurately
• Be willing to travel to other sites to perform duties as reasonably required

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science (or related field), or experience in animal research or animal production
• Previous livestock experience
• Positive attitude with an interest in animal research, production and new technology
• Sound degree of fitness to cope with the physical nature of the position
• Preparedness to work flexible hours
• Current driver's licence
