Technical Officer - Fertility Laboratory

About the role

Genea, a fertility clinic founded 35 years ago, is looking for a Technical Officer in Deakin. The role supports the efficient running of the laboratory, including routine biochemistry bloods, sperm and dish preparation for ART procedures, diagnostic andrology analysis, lab maintenance and cleaning, stock control, record keeping and sample transport.

Key responsibilities

• Day-to-day laboratory support, including maintenance and cleaning
• Monitor stock and supplies, and handle inventory control and ordering of lab supplies
• Prepare paperwork for procedures and prepare samples
• Run routine biochemistry bloods and prepare sperm and dishes for ART procedures
• Assist with cryobank maintenance, including discarding gametes and embryos in line with protocol and transporting samples to other clinics
• May assist in training new technical officers and take part in administrative cross-training between departments
• Take part in andrology diagnostic training and a rotational weekend roster covering public holidays
• Other reasonable duties as directed by the manager

Required profile

• Scientific degree
• General administration and reception skills
• Previous experience in a fertility clinic is ideal
