Technical Director – Water Treatment

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Technical Director to lead water treatment engineering for municipal potable water projects across Australia and New Zealand. The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, and mentorship within a high‑performing, diverse team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on municipal potable water projects, delivering innovative treatment solutions.
• Support growth of the potable water portfolio through client engagement, opportunity development and project pursuits.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry partners and stakeholders, representing AECOM’s water treatment capabilities.
• Lead major water treatment projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high‑quality outcomes.
• Mentor and develop engineers, attract top talent, and expand the water treatment capability.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (essential); CPEng and/or RPEQ/RPEV highly regarded.
• 12+ years of experience in water treatment with demonstrated technical leadership.
• Strong understanding of municipal potable water projects and ability to provide technical guidance.
• Established market presence and ability to build trusted client relationships.
• Collaborative leadership style with a passion for mentoring teams.
