Team Leader – Maintenance & Presentation (Aquatics)

About the role

The Active Living team at Hume City Council is looking for a detail‑oriented leader with aquatics and leisure experience to oversee maintenance and presentation standards across its facilities. You will ensure safe, clean, and welcoming environments for the community while managing a dedicated team.

Key responsibilities

• Rostering, supervising and performance managing the maintenance and presentation team to uphold safety, cleanliness and service standards.
• Recruiting, onboarding and maintaining appropriate workforce levels in partnership with the Coordinator Compliance and Safety.
• Developing and reviewing risk assessments, policies, procedures and work instructions with a focus on health, safety and public service.
• Initiating, monitoring and reviewing maintenance and service contracts for operational plant and equipment, including auto doors, hoists, BMS and height‑safety equipment.
• Overseeing cleaning contracts to ensure high‑quality presentation of leisure facilities.
• Supporting duty supervisors with processes for day‑to‑day operations and facility maintenance.
• Preparing for and assisting with compliance audits across the department.
• Contributing to emergency preparedness and response procedures.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in aquatics or leisure facilities.
• Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and risk management.
• Ability to manage contracts, budgets and workforce planning.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
