Team Lead AML - Fraud

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance, the Team Lead AML - Fraud assists the Financial Crime Compliance AML Ops team in meeting local and global regulatory obligations under AML/CTF. The role leads the Fraud Reporting team through a period of rapid change and growth, improving processes and knowledge so that reporting to AUSTRAC complies with SLAs and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a high-performing team, giving feedback and ongoing training to raise capabilities.
• Review and approve Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) or grounds for dismissal triggered by fraud or suspected fraud events.
• Engage with stakeholders to improve current processes and build relationships internally.
• Implement KPIs and productivity markers to measure output and performance.
• Improve the quality of SMR reporting to AUSTRAC and law enforcement agencies.
• Promote and maintain an effective, sustainable compliance culture across the organisation.

Required profile

• Previous leadership experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years' experience in the financial services industry, specifically in AML activities.
• Experience lodging fraud SMRs.
• Ability to negotiate, deal with change and communicate orally and in writing.

• Strong analytical skills, identifying issues quickly and offering business-oriented solutions.
• Organisational and prioritisation skills, handling several tasks at once.
• Ability to find alternative solutions while staying compliant with regulatory requirements.
