Part-Time Finance Officer (Utilities & Reconciliations)

About the role

A local council in Eastern Melbourne is hiring a part-time Finance Officer through its recruitment partner. The role is temporary (3 months, potential permanency) with an ASAP start, 24 hours per week on a hybrid WFH arrangement, paid $42-$48 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Raise purchase orders and utility bills in TechOne, coding each to the right cost centre and approving before payment
• Review utility bills for anomalies such as unusual usage, duplicate charges or billing errors, and follow up with suppliers until resolved
• Complete monthly reconciliations, including utilities accruals and creditor accounts, and investigate variances
• Keep accurate records and supporting documents so month-end closes smoothly and audit requests are easy to answer
• Act as the main contact for internal teams and suppliers on utilities queries, responding quickly and keeping everyone updated

Required profile

• Previous experience in local government, public sector, healthcare or education
• Tertiary qualification in a relevant field
• Minimum 2-3 years in a similar role
• TechOne experience highly desirable
