Teacher - Senior School Mathematics and Science

About the role

Somerset College, an IB World School on the Gold Coast, is looking for a full-time Teacher - Senior School (Mathematics and Science) to deliver engaging, high-quality Mathematics and Science education to students in Years 8-12. The position starts in 2027 and involves teaching Mathematics across Years 8-12, including Mathematical Methods, and is able to take Junior Science (Years 8-9).

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging Mathematics programs and teach Mathematics across Years 8-12, including Mathematical Methods and Junior Science (Years 8-9)
• Foster student curiosity, critical thinking, resilience and confidence in mathematical learning
• Develop and implement curriculum, assessment and reporting practices
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment and differentiate learning for diverse students
• Build relationships with students, families and colleagues, and collaborate with faculty on curriculum and teaching
• Contribute to co-curricular, pastoral care and college initiatives, and take part in professional learning

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience teaching secondary Mathematics, including Mathematical Methods, and the ability to teach Years 8-12 Mathematics and Science Years 8-9
• Qualification in Mathematics or Science, Education or a related discipline, with experience preparing students for strong outcomes in Mathematics
• Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme is highly regarded
• Current Queensland College of Teachers registration and unrestricted Australian working rights
• First aid certification or willingness to obtain it
• Ability to perform standing and manual handling tasks, including bending and lifting
