Teacher of Horticulture (Sports Turf Management)

About the role

TAFE NSW is seeking educators to train the next generation of sports turf management professionals. The position is temporary full-time (35 hours per week) in Yallah, NSW, until July 2027, with a salary package of $111,798 to $132,585 including base salary, employer superannuation contribution and annual leave loading.

You will guide students through practical skills and nationally recognised qualifications, covering sports turf management, golf course maintenance, stadium and sporting field operations, turf production, groundskeeping, irrigation management and related fields. Training is delivered face-to-face in classrooms and practical facilities, at sporting venues and golf courses, on industry worksites and online.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences reflecting contemporary turfgrass management, sustainable turf maintenance and industry best practice
• Teach turfgrass identification and selection, soil and turf nutrition, irrigation systems, integrated pest and disease management, sports field renovation and maintenance, environmental sustainability and workplace safety
• Develop students' practical, technical and problem-solving capabilities

Required profile

• Appropriate subject knowledge and skills, at minimum a Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (AHC31310) or higher
• At least three years of post-qualification industry experience relevant to the qualification, gained within the last five years
• Evidence of the teaching qualification required to deliver Vocational Education and Training (VET)
• Willingness to keep up VET knowledge, industry currency and trainer/assessor competence
