Tax Accountant Intern

About the role

A host company in Melbourne is looking for a Tax Accountant Intern. It offers meaningful work experience with strong supervision in a supportive environment, and plans to offer permanent employment to the suitable candidate. The internship lasts 12 weeks and is designed to give hands-on experience in taxation and bookkeeping.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and superannuation.
• Handle BAS / IAS, GST and FBT returns.
• Carry out bookkeeping.
• Create and return financial statements and documents to clients.
• Liaise with the Australian Taxation Office and other regulatory bodies.
• Collect and enter data for financial spreadsheets.

Required profile

• Student of a relevant degree or recent graduate.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• The technical and soft skills needed to perform the job.
• Commitment to a career in their field of study.
• Completion of a Taxation certified course.
• Ability to work at least 3 days per week; options to work 3, 4 or 5 days per week are available.

Required skills

• Use of MYOB, Xero and SAP.
• Financial spreadsheets.
