Tax Accountant – In‑house role with private group

About the role

An in‑house Tax Accountant position within a large private Australian group, offering exposure to companies, trusts, investments and broader commercial activities. Ideal for someone with 2‑4 years in public practice seeking a long‑term corporate tax career.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare income tax returns for companies and trusts.
• Assist with tax reconciliations, tax‑effect accounting and forecasting.
• Prepare FBT returns and support GST and other indirect tax requirements.
• Support annual trust distributions and related documentation.
• Work on trusts, Division 7A, Family Trust Elections and trust deeds.
• Assist with fixed‑asset reviews, depreciation and identify tax implications.
• Research tax matters and contribute to advisory activities.
• Liaise with finance teams, external advisers and auditors.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years experience in public practice, preferably with large private or family groups.
• Strong knowledge of Australian income tax, GST, FBT and trust structures.
• CA/CPA qualification or working towards it.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
• Organised, adaptable and able to manage multiple priorities.
