Systems Engineer / Specialist Technician – Technical Support to Schools

About the role

Bytewize is looking for experienced Systems Engineers / Specialist Technicians to provide technical support to Victorian schools through the Technical Support to Schools Program. The role involves managing ICT infrastructure, supporting staff and students, and delivering professional development in a technology‑driven learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and maintain networks, servers and cloud services across Department of Education schools.
• Administer Windows and Linux servers, Hyper‑V virtual environments and mobile device management solutions.
• Support large fleets of desktops, notebooks and 1:1/BYOD devices, including imaging and SOE deployment.
• Provide on‑site troubleshooting, escalation handling and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with school leadership teams and deliver ICT training sessions as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of senior‑level IT support experience in education or comparable corporate environments.
• Demonstrated experience with the TSSP program or similar large‑scale school ICT projects.
• Eligibility to work in Australia, valid driver’s licence and willingness to undergo background checks.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication and organisational skills.

What we offer

• Salary $90,000‑$110,000 AUD pro‑rated, with top rates based on skills and experience.
