Systems Administrator

About the role

We are looking for a Systems Administrator to join Thales Australia’s corporate team. You will be responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing management of our Linux‑based server environment, storage and virtualisation platforms, ensuring reliable services for the wider business.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure and maintain Linux servers across development, test and production environments.
• Manage the full server lifecycle – provisioning, patching, upgrades, performance tuning and de‑commissioning.
• Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, Python or similar tools to streamline deployments and configuration management.
• Implement security hardening, vulnerability remediation and compliance standards.
• Support backup, recovery and disaster‑recovery processes for Linux systems.
• Administer storage solutions (SAN/NAS) and virtualisation platforms (VMware ESX).
• Operate within the ITIL framework handling change, incident, problem, capacity and configuration management.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing Linux server infrastructures in a corporate environment.
• Hands‑on knowledge of storage (SAN/NAS) and VMware ESX virtualisation.
• Ability to create and maintain automation scripts and playbooks.
• Understanding of security hardening and compliance requirements.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and best practices.
