System Administrator – VMware Platform

About the role

Leidos Australia is seeking an experienced System Administrator to design, deploy and support a new enterprise VMware platform within a highly secure environment. You will join a collaborative infrastructure team delivering modern virtualisation capabilities for critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, build and implementation of a VMware platform covering compute, storage, networking and security integration.
• Configure, administer and optimise VMware technologies such as vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX and vSAN.
• Work with infrastructure, network, security and application teams to ensure platform integration and operational readiness.
• Develop automation, documentation, monitoring and support processes to transition the platform to business‑as‑usual operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience administering enterprise VMware environments (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN).
• Hands‑on experience with platform design, implementation and ongoing operational support.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex virtualisation issues.
• Ability to collaborate with network, security, cloud and application teams.

Required skills

• VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, NSX, vSAN
• Automation and scripting using PowerCLI, PowerShell or infrastructure‑as‑code tools
• Knowledge of platform monitoring, patching, backup, recovery and lifecycle management
• Understanding of security hardening, access controls and compliance requirements
