Subject Matter Expert - Trust Accounting

About the role

Resly is building out its financial capabilities and needs a Subject Matter Expert in trust accounting to own and shape how its platform handles trust accounting. The role guides product, engineering and customer teams so that trust accounting features are accurate, compliant and aligned with real-world workflows. It is remote, open to Australia and New Zealand, with a salary of $85,000 - $105,000.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on trust accounting principles, regulations and best practices
• Partner with Product and Engineering to design and validate trust accounting features
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and audit requirements across regions
• Review and validate system behaviour, calculations and reporting accuracy
• Support onboarding and support teams with complex trust accounting scenarios
• Translate customer and regulatory requirements into clear product specifications
• Identify gaps, risks and opportunities to improve trust accounting capabilities
• Contribute to documentation, training and internal knowledge sharing

Required profile

• Deep expertise in trust accounting, ideally within hospitality, property management or real estate
• Strong understanding of compliance, reconciliation processes and audit requirements
• Experience working with trust accounting systems or financial software
• Ability to turn complex financial concepts into clear, actionable guidance
• Strong attention to detail and collaborative mindset across product, engineering and customer teams
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Nice to have

• Experience working with or advising SaaS product teams
• Familiarity with integrations to accounting systems such as Xero
• Experience across multiple regions or regulatory environments
• Background in training, consulting or customer-facing roles
