Strategic Account Executive, Federal Sales

About the role

As a Strategic Account Executive, Federal Sales at Cursor, you will drive revenue growth across a named portfolio of large federal accounts in Australia. You will work closely with engineering teams and senior technical leaders to demonstrate how Cursor’s AI‑powered developer tools boost productivity and secure software delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Own a named book of federal accounts, leading new agency acquisition, expansion revenue and long‑term strategic growth.
• Navigate complex, multi‑threaded sales cycles involving engineering, product, security, procurement, legal and mission‑critical stakeholders.
• Guide federal prospects through trials, technical evaluations, security reviews and large‑scale rollouts, quantifying ROI tied to developer productivity and AI adoption.
• Build executive relationships and day‑to‑day champions across agencies, integrators and technical teams.
• Partner with Field Engineering and the AI Deployment team to deliver outcomes from proof‑of‑concept to production deployment.
• Advise product roadmap with feedback on compliance, deployment and procurement needs.

Required profile

• 10+ years of enterprise or federal technology sales experience, preferably with developer tools, SaaS, infrastructure, cybersecurity or emerging technologies.
• Proven track record of landing new logos, expanding strategic accounts and exceeding quota through self‑sourced pipeline.
• Strong hunter mentality with ability to prospect, map accounts and leverage partners.
• Comfortable navigating federal procurement processes, security expectations and partner ecosystems.
• Excellent communicator capable of building trust at all organizational levels.
• Passionate about AI and the transformation of software development.
